New Wines and Vintages by Marinho Vinhos (Luis Gil)
Wow! The past few months, De Wijnwinkel had so many new wines and vintages coming in that we could hardly keep up with them in our mailings. These include bottles from Portugal, among which are some rising stars as well as familiar faces. One shipment in particular cannot go unmentioned.
We are talking about the addition of some new cuvées and vintages to our selection of wines by Luis Gil. With his winery Marinho Vinhos, Gil has been making incredibly zesty, refreshing yet outspoken examples of Portuguese vinho-excellence. Do not expect some sort of Proustian seriousness and highbrow from these wines. Rather crafty Tolstoy storytelling and wit.
Marinho Vinhos sings of the coastal culture of the Lisboa region. Part of a community of surfers and beach boys, Gil does not mind to keep true to his subculture as he uses several types of surfer slang in the labelling of his bottles. Come enjoy these coastal wines now that the water is still fairly warm and we are up for a promising late summer.
