Senorio de Arana

Bodega Senorio de Arana was founded in the late 1970s by the De Santiago family – who already had a long history in viticulture – with the intention of producing high quality wines. Señorío de Arana now grows garnacha, tempranillo, graciano and mazuelo on a large plot of excellent quality in the Rioja Alvesa.

The vineyards of Arana have a clay-limestone soil with a southern exposure. The Cantabrian Mountains provide shade, and together with the local climate – short summers and mild winters – and the characteristics of the soil, the conditions are ideal for the production of the most widely planted grape tempranillo.

In addition to using the most modern techniques, the bodega also firmly believes in the influence of the human hand, from the pickers to the viticulturist, who follows the grapes from each parcel throughout the entire production process. When the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation have taken place, the most beautiful juice goes on barrique for maturation between 15 and 24 months.

Arana knows how to make smooth and fruity wines with great drinkability. During the 1990s, the consistent quality of the wines from Bodega Señorío de Arana enabled the house to expand.
