Château de la Presle in Oisly (Touraine) is part of the Domaine Jean-Marie Penet and has been in the family for five generations. Today, Jean-Marie Penet’s daughter Anne-Sophie lives there with her husband Frédéric Meurgey

Today the domain covers 45 hectares in the Touraine AOC appellation in the heart of the area. The vineyards of Chateau de la Presle are treated in the most natural way possible, which allows them to produce wines of fantastic purity that show the true character of each variety.

At Chateau de la Presle, mainly sauvignon blanc is grown, but the grapes chardonnay, pineau d’aunis, pinot noir and gamay are also planted.

Frédéric Meurgey is of Burgundian origin and he has brought his passion for classic white wine to Chateau de la Presle. He inherited this passion from his parents, because his father is Henri Meurgey, one of Beaune’s well-known and most respected winemakers.

The wines are all vinified and aged in stainless steel, crafted in a wonderfully fresh style to drink when young. The wines are straightforward, and at the same time quite sublime and pure, suitable for any time of the day.

When we tasted the wines from Jean-Marie in 2016, we were immediately touched by the freshness, clarity and invigorating acidity of his Touraine Sauvignon. The rest of the range also proved to be a good addition to our Loire selection. Anne-Sophie and Frédéric know how to continue this great quality.
