Best gin in Amsterdam by Yvette van Boven
If you’re a gin lover, you’ll know that Amsterdam is home to some of the best gin distilleries in the world. With so many options available, it can be tough to know where to start. However, if you’re looking for the ultimate gin experience, there’s one gin that stands out from the rest – Yvette van Boven’s gin. If you’re curious to try Yvette van Boven’s gin, we recommend checking out the following two gins: the Classic Wild Woodland Gin and her new Wild Winter Gin.
Van Boven’s Wild Woodland Gin
This gin from Yvette van Boven is distilled together with Wagging Finger in Deventer. The recipe comes from her own book ‘Van Boven in het Wild’. The main ingredients are spruce tops, juniper and sage. The gin has flavors of bay leaf, mandarin, all spice and star anise. So it’s nice and bitter, resinous from the spruce, like if you are walking through a forest. Get it now on our website. Find more information here.
Van Boven’s Wild Winter Gin
The Wild Winter Gin is the second gin from Van Boven. Together with distiller Wagging Finger, she put her Wild Woodland Gin in burnt Oak barrels for weeks, giving the gin a smoky, more complex taste (and colour!) that you would rather expect from whiskey. Yet this is unmistakably gin. We no longer drink this gin with tonic, but rather pure, with ice and a slice of fresh ginger or mixed with gingerale and if possible, a drop of Angostura Bitters. Just like the Wild Woodland Gin, this smoky Winter Gin is really the very best ingredient for the tastiest negroni of your life. Both gins are highly sought-after and have limited availability, so if you want to get your hands on a bottle, act fast – they sell out really quick!
